Rust Server Management Tools Compared
There is no single best way to run a Rust server. A self-hosted panel, a set of scripts, an RCON service and a hosted panel like Panelra each fit a different setup. This page compares them on the jobs that actually take a Rust admin's time: wipes, updates, plugins, crashes and sharing access.

When Panelra is not the right choice
Panelra is built for one job: running Rust servers on Linux machines you control. It is the wrong tool if any of these describe you.
- Your game servers run on Windows
- The Panelra agent needs Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, Debian 12) on x86_64 with systemd. AMP and RSM Web run on Windows, and RCON tools like RustAdmin and BattleMetrics do not care what the host runs.
- You run more than Rust
- Panelra only manages Rust. If the same machines also host other games, a general panel such as Pterodactyl or AMP keeps everything in one place.
- You want to self-host the whole control plane
- The Panelra dashboard is hosted at app.panelra.io; only the agent runs on your machine. If the panel itself must live on your own infrastructure, Pterodactyl and AMP are self-hosted.
- You only have RCON access
- Panelra installs and manages the game server itself, so it needs root on the host to install the agent. If your server lives at a game host that only gives you RCON, an RCON tool such as RustAdmin or BattleMetrics is the realistic option.
If none of them apply, see everything Panelra automates for Rust servers.

- Panelra vs RustAdmin: Server Panel or RCON Tool?RustAdmin is an RCON moderation tool; Panelra installs and runs the Rust server on your Linux host. What each does better, prices and who should pick what.
How we compared
- Every row was checked against the tool's own website and documentation, linked under each tool below.
- "Partly" means the tool can do it but you assemble it yourself, for example a wipe command plus a cron job.
- "Not verified" means we could not confirm it from public docs either way. It is not a "no".
- Competitor prices are copied from the page linked next to each price, on the date shown. Prices change; check the vendor's site before you buy.
